AI Prompt to See Which Growth Levers Fit the Assets You Already Hold
This prompt looks at the assets you already hold and explains the ways they can grow: reinvested income, regular additions, costs, the mix between growth and stable assets, and time. Each lever is priced with your own numbers over one year and set against the risk it adds, and the difference between active and passive funds is explained along the way.
What you need
Fill in the snapshot template below with your assets, and add a note to any line that pays income: interest on a savings account, dividends from shares or funds, rent from a property. Say whether that income is reinvested or paid out to you, because the gap between the two is one of the levers the prompt measures.
Fill in the context line for what you add each month. Without it, the model cannot compare new money with the other levers. Liabilities can stay empty.
Fund fees are usually listed as the ongoing charge or TER (total expense ratio, the yearly cost of running the fund as a percentage of what you hold). You will find them on each fund's factsheet or in your broker's cost summary. If you cannot find a figure, write "unknown" and the model will treat it as a gap.
Add these two lines below the snapshot:
- Investment time span in years: [number]
- Yearly fund fees, if known: [e.g. 0.2% on my ETF, 1.6% on my bank fund]

You are a personal finance educator. Using only my snapshot above and the
lines below, explain how the assets I already hold could grow.
Investment time span in years: [number]
Yearly fund fees, if known: [e.g. 0.2% on my ETF, 1.6% on my bank fund]
1. Sort my assets by how they can grow: through income I could reinvest
(interest, dividends, rent), through price changes only, or hardly at all.
2. Explain each growth lever in plain words: reinvesting income, adding money
regularly, the mix between growth and stable assets, costs, and time. For
each lever that can be priced, show with my own figures what it could add
over one year, and state any return you assume.
3. Explain the difference between actively managed and passive (index) funds,
and what the fees I listed mean over my time span.
4. Describe which economic signals, such as interest rates and inflation,
tend to affect each type of asset I hold, and why timing decisions on them
is unreliable.
5. Say what risk each lever adds, given my time span.
6. Name the lever that looks biggest in my case and the assumption behind it.
Treat every return as an illustration. Ask for missing figures rather than
estimating. No specific products and no buy or sell recommendations. What good output looks like
A good answer starts by sorting your holdings by how they grow. Say you hold an ETF at €60,000 with a 0.2% fee, a bank fund at €25,000 charging 1.6%, US shares worth $16,200, converted at 1.08 to €15,000, paying a 2% dividend, and €12,000 in a savings account at 2% interest, with both incomes paid out to you. Gold or idle cash belongs in the "hardly at all" group.
The lever section then prices each lever over one year. Reinvesting the dividend adds €300 and reinvesting the interest €240. Adding €500 a month brings €6,000 of new money before any return. The fee gap on the bank fund, 1.4 percentage points, costs €350 a year against the ETF's rate, and it repeats every year the money stays.
The active and passive section should explain that an active fund must beat a cheaper index fund by more than its extra fee each year to come out ahead, and stay neutral on whether a given fund does.
The part on economic signals explains links, such as rising interest rates tending to push bond prices down, and says plainly that acting on forecasts of them is a bet.
In this example the closing pick should be the €6,000 of regular additions, larger than the other three levers combined in year one, with a note that fees and mix carry more weight as the balance grows.
What this can't tell you
Every growth figure beyond interest you already receive rests on an assumed return. The model can show what 5% a year would do, but nobody knows what markets will pay over your time span, and a lever that adds growth usually adds the chance of losses too.
Fee comparisons depend on the figures you supply. Ongoing charges leave out trading costs, spreads (the gap between buying and selling price) and platform fees, so the full cost gap can be larger.
The prompt does not cover tax. Reinvested dividends, rent and fund switches can be taxed very differently depending on your country and account type, which can change which lever is worth more. It also leaves out income and spending, and it can slip on percentage arithmetic.
Doing this without the retyping
Working out these levers by hand means gathering balances from several accounts and retyping them each time.
