AI Prompt to Summarize the Market Data of a Cryptocurrency You Hold
This prompt turns the market figures for one coin into a short, readable summary: how far the price moved over 30 days and 12 months, where it sits in its yearly range, how volatile it is and how large the market behind it is. It suits anyone who holds a coin and wants the numbers explained before reading other people's commentary on them.
What you need
You need a handful of figures for one coin, copied from its page on a market data site or from your exchange, with the date you copied them. The snapshot template on this page is optional here. The summary is about the coin's market, and your other holdings don't change it.
Fill in these lines inside the prompt:
- Coin: [name and ticker]
- Price today: [price, currency, date]
- Price 30 days ago and 12 months ago: [two prices]
- 12-month high and low: [two prices]
- Market capitalization and 24-hour volume: [amounts, if you have them]
These lines carry the whole prompt. A chat model with no browsing tool cannot see today's market. If you leave the figures out, it will either decline or fall back on prices from its training data, which may be many months stale.
Give every price in the same currency. Most data sites show USD by default. If you think in EUR or CZK, keep the prices in USD and add the exchange rate to the price line, for example "2,000 USD on 7 November, 1 EUR = 1.10 USD", so the model converts once at the end instead of mixing currencies along the way.
The last line is optional. Without it the summary still covers price and range, but it cannot say anything about the size of the market or how actively the coin trades.
Here is my financial snapshot. Use only these numbers.
Currency: [e.g. EUR]
Date: [today's date]
Age: [optional]
ASSETS

[name] — [category] — [value]

LIABILITIES

CONTEXT (optional but improves the answer)
Monthly income after tax: [amount]
Monthly spending: [amount]
Amount I add to savings or investments each month: [amount]
Value of the same assets 12 months ago: [amount]Fill this in once and keep it somewhere you can reach. Every prompt below starts from it. You will want to rebuild it whenever you need a fresh answer, since the figures are only as current as the day you typed them.
Additional inputs for this prompt
Add these lines to your message, below the snapshot if you use one:
coin name and ticker: [your value]price today and date: [your value]price 30 days and 12 months ago: [your value]12-month high and low: [your value]market capitalization and 24-hour volume: [your value]
The prompt
Copy this exact text and paste it into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini directly beneath your snapshot block.
You are a crypto market analyst. Summarize the market data for this coin in
plain language. Use only the figures below for prices and size.
Coin: [name and ticker]
Price today: [price, currency, date]
Price 30 days ago and 12 months ago: [two prices]
12-month high and low: [two prices]
Market capitalization and 24-hour volume: [amounts, if I have them]
1. Calculate the change over 30 days and over 12 months, in money and in
percent. Show the arithmetic.
2. Show where today's price sits in the 12-month range: how far below the high
and how far above the low.
3. Explain what volatility means for a coin like this, and what these figures
can and cannot tell me about it.
4. Explain market capitalization and trading volume, and what my coin's size
means for how easily it is bought and sold.
5. Compare these figures with how coins of a similar size have typically
behaved in rising, falling and flat markets, and describe common patterns.
If a figure is missing, tell me what it would add and ask for it rather than
estimating it. No price predictions or targets, no advice to buy, sell or hold,
and no coins, exchanges or products suggested. What good output looks like
A good summary opens with the two changes, each as an amount and a percentage, with the calculation visible. Say you paste an invented price of 2,000 USD today, 2,500 USD twelve months ago, and a 12-month range of 1,600 to 3,200 USD. The price fell 500 USD, or 20%, over the year. It sits 37.5% below the high and 25% above the low. With a rate of 1.10 USD per EUR on the price line, a holding of 0.5 coins comes to about 909 EUR today.
On volatility, the model should be candid about the data. Three prices and a range show how wide the swings were, but they are too few points for a proper volatility figure. A good answer says so and explains what a daily or monthly measure would add.
The section on size explains market capitalization as price times the number of coins in circulation, and why size matters for trading: smaller coins usually move more on the same amount of buying or selling. Trading volume is set against market capitalization so you can see how much of the coin changes hands in a day.
The comparison with typical scenarios stays general and is labelled as such, for example how coins of this size have behaved in broad crypto sell-offs. Nothing in it points forward.
What this can't tell you
A chat model without browsing has no live prices, so every number in the summary is only as fresh as the figures you pasted. If the model fills a gap from memory, that part may describe a market that no longer exists.
Data sites disagree with each other. Market capitalization depends on how a site counts circulating supply, and reported 24-hour volume can be inflated by wash trading, where the same party sits on both sides of a trade. Recheck the percentages yourself; models often get the sign of a change wrong.
The summary describes the past and the present. It cannot say what the coin does next or whether holding it suits you, and it is silent on tax on gains where you live.
Doing this without the retyping
The app version is "Market Data Summary" on a crypto holding, one of the 62 prompts in Sumio's AI assistant, which is part of Premium. It runs with one tap on a coin you already track, using market data that Sumio keeps up to date automatically, so you skip copying prices and ranges from a data site. Your records are stored on your device; running the summary sends the figures it needs to an AI provider.
